Her Royal Highness's Yearly Christmas Musical Celebration Spotlights Community Volunteers
Her Royal Highness has organised her yearly Christmas carol concert at the historic Abbey, with attendees featuring members of the royal family, famous faces, and community champions who have supported their local areas.
The 1,600 guests will enjoy a mix of festive songs, musical performances, and spoken word pieces from actors such as award-winning actors.
Focusing on Compassion and Love
The focus of the service, held in the glowing Westminster Abbey on Friday, is kindness and showing love to others.
Attending the event are Jonathan and Anna Cordiner, whose child passed away from a brain tumour, and who established a foundation, a support fund, to support families who have a youngster facing a life-limiting condition.
"Your efforts, love, and understanding, often quietly and unspoken, and without any hope for reward or acknowledgement, make an remarkable change to the circumstances of individuals," wrote Catherine in a message before the carol service.
A Gradual Return
The royal has been undertaking her own measured re-emergence to official duties after her cancer diagnosis and chemotherapy, in November making her initial major address in two years, in which she reflected on recognising the "discreet, frequently unseen labour of caregivers".
Performance and Potential
Those coming to the Abbey will be entertained by talented youth performers aided by the Future Talent organisation, established in part by the Duchess of Kent to increase availability of musical tuition.
Trumpeter Carys Wood, 18, who performs on the trumpet and is from Wales, has been helped by the organisation, with grants helping towards instruments, tuition, and transportation expenses - and she said it was "awesome" to be performing at the evening's event.
"Musical pursuits are frequently pricey," the musician remarked. She is now a student at the renowned conservatoire, and added that "everyone should have the opportunity" to cultivate their performance abilities.
Generations Gathering
Her younger sibling Eliza, aged 11, who performs on the brass instrument, will be present at the Abbey. "It's unbelievable that I get to perform here in front of so many important people," she said.
Attending the service will be people from various age groups.
That will include Saphia Turner, aged nine, recipient of a youth community award, who creates and sells art and completes fundraising tasks to raise money for food banks.
Seasonal Ambiance and Entertainment
The Abbey has been adorned with custom-created holiday decorations, with celebrity baker Mary Berry and floral designer Simon Lycett helping to make them.
The musical lineup includes singer Katie Melua, choristers from Westminster Abbey and a Cornish sea shanty group, the group Fisherman's Friends, who said the invitation to sing was "the icing on the cake for us."
The Together at Christmas carol concert will be aired by television on December 24th.
